Taxes on cigs, gambling

Sin taxes — increased taxes on cigarettes and gambling — are expected to form part of the fiscal package to be presented by Prime Minister Patrick Manning today.

The 2006/7 Budget is to be presented by Manning, in his capacity as Finance Minister, in the House of Representatives at 2 pm this afternoon.
