Fifty–four educators attended a Quest three–day workshop on Monday.
The training programme was to expand the Quest programme to benefit students’ overall development, especially in the areas of building strong self–esteem as well as drug education and prevention.
It is a holistic programme that continues throughout the entire education process, from Kindergarten to graduation.
Held at the Savannah United Church Hall, educators were updated on the programme by visiting Quest master trainer Beverly Fisher.
She was on hand to train three local educators, Courtney Perrin of John A. Cumber, Keva Powell of Savannah Primary and Susan Bush of Cayman Brac High School as well as to deliver a number of presentations to other educators.
The main focus was how a school community can best support the development of capable healthy young people of strong character.
On Monday educators got acquainted, participated in activities and learned ways of creating a classroom community. Day two covered teaching and learning essential life skills and promoting a safe and healthy approachable life. At the end of the three–day session there will be a gradation.
Education Officer James Watler said through this programme students are able to develop socially and emotionally.
Following the training, the programme will continue at the schools involved.
