The MDGs and the Dominican Republic: Measuring Progress

When I read or talk about the MDGs one factor about their implementation is never far away from my mind. As a matter of fact, with the eight objectives laid-out to reduce poverty and hunger by 2015 a great deal in this framework lies above all with the application of integrated analyses vis-à-vis economic, social and political activities in order to track progress and tackle public policy. And by engaging these dynamics can help to overcome the numerous challenges in development and capacity building to harness comprehensive approaches at country levels through the development of principles and practices in data generation, analyses and dissemination - tasks that underline the importance behind the setting of collaborative efforts and the institutionalization of systems of reporting.

As an example of these practices, the DR stands firm in its way to address the MDGs by aligning technical and political commitments in the UN Millennium Campaign (Dominican Republic’s Work to Reach Anti-Poverty Goals) to bring in social modernization, technological advance and industrialization with their development strategies.
