Government to remodel 12 public housing projects
SAN LORENZO (EFE) – Gov. Aníbal Acevedo Vilá on Thursday announced that the Public Housing Administration will invest $190.3 million to remodel 12 public housing projects in Puerto Rico.
According to the governor, this effort is part of the second phase of a program to update public housing projects that has already include more than 30 public housing complexes.
The next projects to be included in the revamping efforts are Trina Padilla, of Arecibo; El Coral and Catañito Gardens, of Carolina; Jardines de San Fernando, of Toa Alta; Turabo Heights, of Caguas; Extensión de Catalina, of Yauco; Jardines de Campo Rico y de Cupey, of San Juan; Las Violetas, of Vega Alta; Yuquiyú II, of Luquillo; La Lorenzana, of San Lorenzo, and Villa del Río, of Naguabo.
Acevedo Vilá also said the second phase will benefit more than 16,000 families.
According to the governor, the program has already created nearly 3,000 of the 10,000 jobs they expect to generate.
