CALL FOR APPLICATIONS:
Consultant, INSTRAW's UNIT OF GENDER, GOVERNANCE AND WOMEN'S POLITICAL PARTICIPATION

The International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW) seeks a suitable candidate to be in charge of the "Gender, Governance and Women's Political Participation" Unit. Under the supervision of the INSTRAW Director and Social Affairs Officer, the incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring the Unit's strategies and activities. This includes an analysis of the new challenges, realities and trends related to the thematic area.

TERMS OF REFERENCE
Qualifications: Advanced university degree (Masters or higher) in the Social Sciences or similar areas, with specialization in issues related to governance, political participation, gender and project management.
Required skills
Ability to conceptualize, design and develop research studies in themes related to political participation, governance and gender.
Excellent ability to analyze, synthesize and writing skills for the development and presentation of analytical and informative materials.
Skills in Project design, implementation and follow-up in themes related to political participation, governance and gender.
Skills in the preparation of training materials and methodologies and in the implementation of capacity building processes.
Advocacy skills for women's rights and gender mainstreaming in projects, programmes and policies.
Communication skills, both orally and written.
Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Team management and supervisory skills.
LanguagesExcellent command of English and Spanish is a must. Knowledge of French is an asset.

Experience
A minimum of 5 to 7 years experience in issues related to governance, gender and women's political participation at the regional and/or international level is required. Experience in project management and coordination, preparation of case studies, systematic revision of studies and design of training materials in issues Such as women's political participation, gender, governance and public policy, is highly desirable. Experience and knowledge of the United Nations system is an asset.

Location
The consultant in charge of "Gender, Governance and Women's Political Participation" Unit will work at INSTRAW headquarters in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
