Broadening the Scope of Poverty Assessments in Grenada
In what can be seen as a right move, the government of Grenada has taken steps toward the implementation of a comprehensive poverty assessment analysis of the country, see here.
By converging adequate resources to support the development of such an approach, the importance of poverty measurement will be further demonstrated by opening subsequent rooms to identify the nature of poverty, and the steps needed to assess the impacts of various domestic/international policies and programs for the poor.

The links between policy and research under such praxis will place the onus on the government’s side, due to the needs to strengthen a good knowledge-base in policy-making.
Of course, it goes without saying that matters and challenges related to information generation and dissemination are going to be part of this quest.
Nonetheless, by stressing and putting substantial efforts into the effective use and analysis of data, can go a long way to enable and strengthen knowledge management between researchers and policy makers.
Thus, elements deemed essential to craft and enhance the development of indicators that take aims at such dynamics as vulnerability, social exclusion and human development/security.
