Ministry finalises youth programme
Monday June 19 2006

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ‘Youth in transition’, another school leavers’ programme of the Ministry of Social Development is being finalised during the next few days.

At the end of the school year students of the Cayon High School, who have completed their secondary education, will be involved in the motivational project.

Following a series of instructional self-development and work place preparation sessions, as well as a job fair on 30 June, the past students will undertake job attachments in the public and private sectors.

Prior to the start of the project, students will fill out fact finding questionnaires to determine their needs, future aspirations as well as their awareness of what the workplace would require.
They will also undergo interview and interpersonal skills training. Those who are not placed in their specific field of choice will still have an opportunity to work in other fields and to exercise flexibility, one of the necessary attributes of a good employee.
