ANTHONY N. SAGBA CARIBBEAN AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE LAUNCHED IN GRENADA.

The launch of a new regional awards programme in Grenada represents the coming of age where Caribbean people recognize their own by offering tangible support.That statement from Mr. Francis Lewis, Programme Director of the ANSA Caribbean awards for excellence.
He was speaking at the launch of the regional programme at the Rex Grenadian Hotel on Monday. Grenada is second to Jamaica in the launch of this programme, which was done there last week.
In September, three outstanding Caribbean people will receive awards for excellence in the Anthony N. Sagba Caribbean Awards for Excellence.Candidates from all Caricom countries are eligible. Awards will be given to three individuals, each in the categories of Arts and letters, science and technology and public and civic contributions.
Three awards will be made every two years, in the first instance.To be eligible for the grand prize, candidates must demonstrate their ability to produce consistent superior work, have the capacity for significant future achievement, their work must had had, or is likely to have a positive impact on the Caribbean region, and they must be worthy exemplars to people across the region.
Each of the selected laureates will receive approximately EC 210,000 dollars to support their work along with the ANSA Caribbean Awards for Excellence gold medal and citation.
