PARLACEN Bolsters Caribbean Unity

Havana, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) President Julio Palacios called for including the Caribbean in the regional integration process.

We are putting our house in order and we want the Caribbean states to be part of this process, Palacios said in a meeting in Havana with Roberto Rivas, chief of the Latin American and Caribbean Ministry for Foreign Investment and Collaboration.

Palacios asserted PARLACEN´s importance in encompassing over 50 political parties of the region.
He referred to the need to change the PARLACEN Constitution Treaty to effectively integrate member countries and incorporate others currently outside the regional body.

It is not a matter of intervening in domestic affairs, but having a consult and mediation mechanism on some issues related to integration, he explained.

PARLACEN officials are slated to meet with Cuban National People´s Power Assembly President Ricardo Alarcon and officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
